When I went to Japan at the start of last year, I wandered into one of the op-shops in Tokyo and BOOM – it was like I’d walked into a tween girl’s bedroom in the 80s. Decked out in pink, it had Barbies and My Little Ponies everywhere, posters of Madonna and Cyndi Lauper and of course patterns, colours and shapes galore.
It’s been a whole year since I was there but I haven’t been able to shake that 80s vibe, and every now and then it quite clearly comes out in the way I design. Which I’m totally okay with because hey, patterns and shapes yo! 😉
If you’re wondering how this printable came about, it just so happened that I found an old cupcake sketch in one of my notebooks as I was clearing out my studio last month and decided it needed a bit of a revival.
And instead of presuming to know what you’d most want to download, I thought I’d ask for your opinion in my newsletter. Little did I know you legends would vote the pants off this one!
The votes were pretty unanimous – almost everyone was keen for a birthday card printable. But there were also some requests for gift tags (yeahhh, I love a good gift tag). If you were one of those folks, make sure you check out my next newsletter… it’ll be sent out in a few days’ time and will have cute downloadable gift tags with a sprinkle pattern to match these cupcake cards!
If you’ve got a friend with a birthday coming up (or you just want to send some cupcake love for the heck of it), download the file below, print it onto good quality A4 (or letter-sized) card and cut out for instant birthday goodness. These babies will fit an A6 envelope so just make sure you have one of those on hand before you need to send off your card and you’ll be all set!
