If you’ve seen some of my previous Valentine’s Day posts (like this one!), you’ll know I can’t resist a good pun when it comes to celebrating the day of lurrrve.
And when you’re given the opportunity to combine a grade A dad joke with a pizza printable, well surely you’re onto a winner right? That was my thinking anyway, which is how these pizza love heart gift boxes came to be!
Fill them with sweet treats (or better yet, candy pizzas) and you’ve got the perfect not-too-sappy Valentine’s gift for your significant other!
Materials
- White A4 card
- Bone folder
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Double-sided tape or glue
- Hole punch
Step 1
Head on down to the end of this post and download the Pizza Heart Gift Box printable.
Print the file out onto two sheets of white A4 cardboard (there’s one page for the lid of the box and one for the base).
Step 2
Using the small black lines as a guide, score the sides of the heart box into segments with a ruler and bone folder.
(If that last sentence is a little confusing, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so see below for where to score!) 🙂
Once you’ve scored where all the black lines are, make more score marks along all the thin white lines in the file (i.e. the lines that separate the heart shape from the sides of the box and the lines that section off all the tabs).
Step 3
Cut out the lid and the base of the box (and the swing tag) with a pair of scissors.
Step 4
Apply double-sided tape to all the tabs on the box.
Step 5
Fold the box along the lines you scored in Step 2.
Side note – if you’re working with glue rather than double-sided tape, swap Steps 4 and 5 so that you fold along the score lines BEFORE you apply glue to the tabs, otherwise things could get messy fast!
Step 6
Once you’ve folded along all the score lines, peel the backing off the double-sided tape. One by one, stick the tabs to the back of the heart shape. Work your way around the heart until all the tabs have been stuck down.
When you’ve adhered as many of the tabs to the heart as you can, you’ll find you have a couple of tabs left over. These will connect the two sides of the heart together at the top and bottom.
Step 7
Once your heart box is assembled, punch a hole in the top of the swing tag you cut out earlier, then thread it with twine so you can tie it to your pizza box.
I’ll admit that the assembly of this box is a little more complicated than most of the printables I share, but I think the trickiness is well worth it for the ‘punny’ pizza-filled end result don’t you? 😉
