Printable sugar skull chocolate wrappers

I’ve decided that I’m not particularly good at this Halloween gig. Take this project for instance. Yes skulls are involved, but um, no black. Or cobwebs. Or blood. At all.

Instead, there’s flowers and colour and confetti everywhere! Ha, I think it was always a given that Halloween at my place was going to be a little different from the gory, spooky brooding norm. I hope you don’t mind 🙂

Even though Halloween doesn’t really float my boat, I’ve always been a bit fascinated by the Day of the Dead. I think it’s the contrast between the deathly imagery and all the glorious florals and colours that does it for me. So it was only natural I guess that I was drawn to sugar skulls for this week’s DIY to coincide with both Halloween and the Day of the Dead. This one’s a nice and easy printable that would make great favours if you’re having a spooky celebration this weekend. So grab your chocolate and follow along!

Step 1

Head on down to the end of this post and download out the Sugar Skull Chocolate Wrapper file. Print it onto good quality A4 paper.

Step 2

Remove your chocolate bar from it’s outer packaging (leave the foil intact) and wrap it in a piece of your coloured paper.

Step 3

Depending on the size of your chocolate bar, you might need to trim the sugar skull print down to size. I just marked and trimmed about 1.5cm off each side so that some of the coloured paper would peek through the edges once I’d wrapped it all up.

Step 4

Centre the skull print on the front of your chocolate bar. Then flip both the print and the chocolate over so that the skull is face-down on the table.

Apply a strip of double-sided tape to one edge of the back of your sugar skull print and use that to fasten your wrapper into place.

Nice and easy right? And don’t be sad if you’re not having a Halloween party to share these at this year – you can still wrap up your chocolates and hand them out the kids that come trick or treating. They’ll be well impressed 🙂
