I love a good craft project, but I’ll be the first to admit that I’m lazy with a capital L when it comes to large scale DIYs. And so our house that was built in the 90s still looks much like it did 3 decades ago with its wood kitchen cabinets, cream skirting boards, beige blinds and ugly light fittings.
Then one rainy day, as I wandered through Ikea trying to keep Lauren entertained, it occurred to me that I could easily update the look of our space (and save some money) by making my own pendant lights. Sure, it doesn’t fix the wood cabinet/beige blinds/cream skirting board problem, but it’s a small step in the right direction and most importantly, it’s a simple fix. The only question is, why didn’t I do this earlier?!
With just a $6 wood bowl and a light kit, I made myself a pretty nifty (if I do say so myself) pendant light. Not bad hey? If you love a fun DIY that’s also a good deal, hop on over to Curbly for the full tutorial.
xx Steph

Thanks Vanessa! Ikea hacks are fast becoming my favourite projects (it’s also a great excuse to shop more at Ikea š ). I’ll hop over now to have a look at your project – I can’t wait to see it!
