When I was a kid, I used to hoard any stationery that came my way like there was a worldwide shortage of the stuff. To this day I don’t quite know why pretty paper, stickers and the like were so precious to me because I almost never ended up using them. Instead, I squirrelled away the good stuff and wrote my letters on mum’s plain notepaper. Go figure!
While I almost never touched my special stationery stash, I nevertheless did write a lot of letters as a kid. And I drew, and scrapbooked, and kept a diary. All of which now makes me feel nostalgic and slightly sad because as I sit here typing this post, I can’t actually recall when I last picked up a pen and wrote to a friend. How times have changed.
And that, my friends, is my very long-winded way of saying I’m starting a new segment to bring snail mail back! I’m calling it ‘write on’ (because nothing is complete without a pun) and each month I’ll be sharing a free printable that you can use to write letters to your friends. Or dress up your planner. Or decorate your envelopes. Anything that requires putting pen to paper really.
I really hope you’ll join in on the fun, download the printable and brighten up somebody’s letterbox with your lovely correspondence. I’ll be doing the same and I’ll share some of my finished letters and envelopes (sans personal details obvs) with you over the coming months.
If you have instagram, take a photo of yours and use the hashtag #makeandtell so I can see your beautiful work!
