I’ve got always got my eye out for unique and pretty earrings. I’m rather hopeless with the rest of my clothing, but earrings are for me what I suppose shoes are for lots of girls – I have MANY more than I need, and I can always think of an excuse to buy an extra pair!
I’m also a bit picky about styles and patterns so when I realised the other day that I could make my own (duh, I’m a bit slow on the uptake sometimes), I instantly got to it.
I know I say this ALL the time, but this really is one of the easiest projects to do. So get some mosaic tiles, a Sharpie and some glue, and hop to it!
Materials
- 10mm square black glass mosaic tiles
- White Sharpie paint pen
- Earring posts
- Butterfly backs
- Super glue
Step 1
Give your mosaic tiles a good clean and then draw some patterns onto your tiles with your Sharpie paint pen (make sure you shake the pen well first to get the paint flowing).
This is your chance to get creative – you can draw anything you like! It’s quite a small space though, so patterns like dots or stripes (or maybe a single heart?) might be the way to go if you’re not super confident about your drawing ability.
Step 2
Once the paint is dry, flip the tiles over and stick the earring posts on using super glue.
And that’s it. Seriously, how easy was that? The materials aren’t expensive either so for very little cost (and relatively little effort), you can custom make earrings to your heart’s content!
I only made black earrings because there were so many tiles in the one packet I figured one packet would definitely be enough for this project. But I’m curious about using different coloured mosaic tiles – I think deep blue or hot pink ones would look fab!
