If you’ve been reading my ‘friday faves’ posts lately, you may recall me saying that August is a BIG birthday month around our way. And It’s not just me who gets to blow out the candles – my husband also celebrates his birthday this month (it was on Monday actually!) and we have lots of family and friends with birthdays around the same time.
So you can see why I was inspired to create some cute birthday cards this week right? It goes without saying that they’ll come in handy very soon and hey, who doesn’t love a little ice cream themed stationery lying around their desk while they wait for the parties to start!
Did I mention that these cards are super duper easy to put together? If you know someone who’s celebrating their birthday, get yourself some white cardboard and follow along!
Materials
- White A4 card
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Bone folder
- Double-sided tape or glue
- Pen
- Printable ice cream file (download at the end of the post)
Step 1
Download the ice cream file at the end of this post, print it onto a sheet of white A4 card, and then cut out each ice cream cone with a pair of scissors. You’ll end up with two single scoop ice cream cones (one with tabs) and a double scoop cone.
Step 2
Place the ice cream cone with the tabs face up on your desk. Score along the two white lines that mark out the tabs with a ruler and bone folder. Then fold along the lines you scored.
Step 3
Place some double-sided tape or glue on the tabs. Lay the tabbed ice cream cone face down and place the other single-scoop ice cream cone on top.
Step 4
Write your birthday message on the double scoop cone and insert it into the pocket you created with your two single scoop ice cream cones.
Job done! Pretty sweet don’t you think? Oh, and if you’re wondering about how you’re supposed to send these babies through the post, I’ve sized them so they fit nicely in a DL (110mm x 220mm) envelope.
Now all you need is some actual ice cream to go with these cards so you don’t get hungry while making them! 🙂
