Today the blog turns 2 and I’m feeling all the feels as well as thinking all the thoughts. It’s very confusing!
On the one hand, I can’t believe it’s been 2 years already; the days seems to have gone very fast and I’ve got so much still to learn. Which is both super exciting and positively terrifying! On the other hand, it feels like I’ve been doing this forever, like there couldn’t have possibly been a time when I didn’t blog; I mean, how did I function without having a new project to work on and something fun to craft?!
Whatever all these mixed thoughts mean, one thing’s for sure – I’m not going anywhere and I have lots of new and exciting plans for this little space of mine. Most importantly, I’m so honoured and very thrilled to have you along for the ride!
Lastly, a birthday’s not a birthday without a good party hat, so I whipped up some super fun pineapple ones to celebrate. These are perfect for a colourful party; if you’re planning one of those sometime soon (or if you just want to wear something fun on your head) download the file and let’s get crafting!
- Printable pineapple party hat file (see the end of this post to download)
- White card
- Hot glue gun and glue
- Small hole punch
- Pom poms
Download the pineapple party hat file (at the end of this post) and print it onto white card. Cut out each of the hats with a pair of scissors.
Apply hot glue to the tab at the edge of each party hat (marked out by the white dashed line) and fasten the two ends of the hat together to form a cone.
Cut a piece of elastic long enough to fit under your chin. Punch a small hole in one side of the party hat (towards the base) and insert the piece of elastic through. Tie a knot to secure.
Repeat on the opposite side of the party hat with the other end of the elastic.
Glue a pom pom to the top of the party hat with hot glue.
That’s all there is to it – your pineapple party hats are ready to show off at whatever fun festivities you’ve got planned!
Funny side note – If you’re wondering why none of my finished shots show the hats with elastic, guess which doofus forgot that step entirely and then had to go back and take extra shots afterwards? Yep that’d be me! I guess having 2 years of blogging under my belt doesn’t automatically mean I’ll stop making dumb mistakes hey? 😉
Oh and one more thing – if you haven’t already, don’t forget to subscribe to my email newsletter. I shared some pineapple gift wrap last month that goes PERFECTLY with these hats and there’ll be lots more exclusive freebies in the months to come!
